I’ll be honest, the first time I noticed Pride cigars, it was only because they were on display right under the Liga Privada No. 9′s at my local store. Then I learned that they are a local Tampa company, backed by generations of Cuban craftsmen. Tampa has a very long history of great cigar crafters, with the Ybor City area originally built around the cigar industries of Cuban immigrants.
With the whole “support local” mindset I grabbed a Pride Corojo Torpedo and gave it a ride.
This is a finely crafted stick with attention to detail. Exquisitely perfect torpedo tip. The wrap was rolled to such a perfect needle tip that I could’ve dipped it in an inkwell and done fine calligraphy with it. Nicely textured Corojo wrap. very thinly veined, nicely smooth texture from tip to foot.
The foot smells of mainly tobacco and a hint of oak/cedar. On the freshly guillotine cut tip, the fresh tobacco smell comes alive.
Ignition…
Very smooth, mellow smoke. Maybe a bit milder than I expected at first.
But about 5 minutes in, the flavor explodes. Full bodied and very rich yet smooth and mellow.
Very fresh tasting. Nice blend of flavors. Creamy, almost moist tasting. A bit nutty with a little lingering oak woodsy taste.
Solid tight light grey ash which was gently tapped off at about 1 1/2”.
At about halfway it gets a little livelier… peppery and robust.
Great finish. very robust and still very fresh tasting. The pepperiness tones down and it becomes very warm and woodsy. The cedar taste is prominent in the finish.
It remained very mellow and never got harsh or bitter with impurities and I smoked this stick to the point of risking finger safety.
I have never bought a box of cigars. I always like variety so I may pick up 3-5 sticks of one brand here and there but at this quality and price point, under $5 by the single stick, its a cigar I can see myself actually committing to my first box with.
5 stars all around.
If you are outside of FL you may have some trouble finding these. Ask your retailer to stock them. Visit the Pride Cigars website for a list of brick-n-mortar dealers.
As far as I know, The only online store for ordering is Tampa Humidor. Local Store, great people.

Great review on the Pride Cigars blend. I’ve also enjoyed several of these cigars and look forward to their new releases coming this year.
